What is Physiotherapy?

As first contact practitioners, you don’t need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist. Is your clinic registered with the Medicare, WorkSafe, TAC, and Health Funds?

Yes, our payment claiming system is registered with 98% of health insurers plus WorkSafe, TAC and Medicare to make claims and payments easier. Health Funds and Medicare claims are processed on-site. We deal direct with WorkSafe and TAC for all preapproved claims – no out of pocket payment is required in most cases.

Do you have a good relationship with other medical professionals?

Yes. We strongly believe in a multi-disciplinary team approach to delivering optimal healthcare and maintain excellent working relationship with local GPs, specialists and pain management consultants. We liaise with GPs and specialists on an on-going basis, to ensure the best healthcare outcome.

Is physiotherapy appropriate for back and neck pain problems?

Yes. In fact, we deal with back and neck problems on a daily basis and have a thorough understanding of a wide range of conditions, treatment approaches and preventative methods.

When I experience pain or injure myself, how long should I wait before seeking treatment?

It depends on how serious the injury or condition is but in most cases within 24-48 hours. This depends on the severity of your injury. If you feel it is only a minor injury and you have minimal pain try following our advice on how to treat recent injuries. If after 48 hours it is still painful you should contact the clinic for an appointment. If the injury is more serious you should try to make an appointment as soon as possible.

Do I need to see a doctor to see a physiotherapist?

No. Above and Beyond Physiotherapy is a first contact provider of healthcare. Simply call us, email or book an appointment online. You don’t need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist.

How quickly will I be seen for my first appointment?

We aim to see you within 24-48 hours; depending on the severity of your condition we may offer you an afterhours appointment during our busy periods.

What can I expect on my first appointment?

We begin by understanding the story behind your injury/condition, then assess the affected part of your body, diagnose your condition/injury, help you understand more about your injury, its recovery. How long does a physiotherapy appointment last?

Your first appointment will be between 30 to 45 minutes or longer depending on the complexity of your condition – we will advise you if more time is required to better manage your condition. Follow up appoints are between 20 to 30 minutes depending on your injury/condition.

Should I bring my x-rays, ultrasound CT scan, MRI results with me?

Yes. Any existing medical investigation reports and results are valuable to your recovery.

Can you help me arrange to get x-rays, ultrasound CT scan, MRI?

Yes. We routinely refer our patients for xray, ultrasound, CT scans, MRI directly and indirectly by liaising with their GP or specialist.

How many treatments will I need?

At Above and Beyond Physiotherapy, our aim is to deliver the best and fastest route to recovery. During your treatment plan, our physiotherapist will discuss with your condition/injury, it’s severity, stage of healing, barriers to recovery, and provide you with an approximate number of visits. We are committed to getting you back to full health.

How much will it cost per session?

Do you process Health Funds claims on-site?

Yes, Above and Beyond Physiotherapy’s payment claiming system is registered with 98% of Health Fund providers.

Do you offer home visits?

Yes. Home visits can be organized for patients who are disabled, post-operative or are too ill to attend the practice.

Is parking available at the clinic?

Yes. There are multiple car parks available on-site and around the practice. we have a large car park in front of the clinic.

How do I make payment?

You can pay over the phone at 1300263939, bank transfer in particular situations or when you attend your appointment. We accept all payment types including cash, cheque, credit and debit card and bank transfer.

What is the policy for cancellation and missed appointments?

Please note that if you fail to inform us that you are unable to attend or you cancel your appointment giving less than 24 hours notice you will be charged a non-attendance charge, equal to the cost of the appointment missed. If you do not attend an appointment without prior notice to the clinic, Medicare, WorkSafe, TAC or your Health Fund provider will not cover them.
