Dr Kamal Raman Physiotherap

Dr Kamal Raman

Physiotherapist, Kinesiologist

Dr Kamal Raman migrated from USA where he was initially pursuing engineering degree in 2006 but was involved in an accident which lead him down the path of Physiotherapy rehabilitation. This life experience is what directed him towards pursuing a 7 year career pathway – as per the USA educational pathway.

Dr Kamal Raman completed his Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2012 (California, USA) with specialisation in exercise prescription for rehabilitation of non-communicable diseases and musculoskeletal injuries. During his studies he tutored students for Anatomy, Athletic Training, Biomechanics, Biology, Chemistry and Exercise Physiology. He was awarded membership to Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization. His internship at a sports Physiotherapy clinic in California allowed him to gain practical experience in utilising exercise prescription for rehabilitation.

In order to broaden his knowledge base in Physiotherapy techniques, he pursed his education in the Oceania region where manual therapy 'hands-on' skills are prevalent. He finished his second degree in Bachelor of Physiotherapy in New Zealand and practiced there in 2016. He then migrated to Australia to practice as of 2017.

Overall, his practical experience includes physical rehabilitation of patients in hospitals (surgical ward, specialized post-stroke rehab, neurological ward), on-field sports medic role for rugby and soccer teams, off-field Physiotherapy of elite athletes to weekend warriors, kids (8 years+), aging population and workplace/MVA injury management.

He aims to deliver a level of physiotherapy that not only treats the symptoms but goes two steps further by a) correcting the source of the problem and b) creating an exercise based program that emphasises on prevention and total well-being. Kamal was born in Fiji, raised in USA (California) and plans to spend the coming years in Australia. He is passionate about many things in life and he feels that the key to this is his zest for learning. In his free time, he likes travelling, cycling, hiking, playing basketball and, as of recent, creating community groups for social interactions
